For Students of all Ages and Skill Levels
Students can expect a fun and interactive environment while being encouraged to work hard and do their best. A patient, enthusiastic and motivating attitude will ensure a positive experience for students. Setting goals and working towards them will encourage continuous progress. Adapting to each student and tailoring the lesson to the individual will ensure their personal goals are met, whether that be eventually preparing for a university audition, or just playing casually for fun.
Lessons mainly follow the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate Program, allowing students to progress through a structured and well-rounded curriculum. Exploring music outside of this curriculum is also encouraged and will differ with each student based on their needs and interests.
Students are encouraged to share their gift and benefit from the rewards of their hard work by performing for others. There are various events throughout the year that students can participate in including recitals, competitions, workshops, and examinations.
The student’s first lesson is incredibly important and the main goal is to ensure the most positive first impression possible. I work to create interest and excitement for the journey the student and I are about to begin. A strong student-teacher relationship provides the foundation of a positive and fun learning environment.
During the first meeting we will start building this relationship. We will get to learn a bit about each other by sharing our thoughts on music and by asking each other any questions that come to mind. Parents are encouraged to be part of this conversation. Following this we will begin to explore the piano and some basic musical concepts, working towards having the student learn their very first song by the end of the lesson.
The home studio is designed to give the student the best learning environment possible, with minimal background noises or distractions. Students will play on a regularly tuned Yamaha grand piano and parents are always welcome to sit in on the lesson.
Preparing for examinations for each level of study is highly recommended (but not mandatory) as it sets a goal for the student to work towards, and rewards them with a certificate as well as valuable feedback from RCM examiners. Some of the higher level certificates can be used as highschool credits as well.
Recitals are also encouraged as they allow the student to perform in front of others and show off their talent and hard work. In addition to recitals are competitions where the student may compete against others and also receive valuable feedback from adjudicators, as well as the potential to receive scholarships.
Olga Lambruschini:
My daughter and I have had a great rewarding experience with Anthony’s piano lessons. She has achieved incredible results in the two and a half years taking lessons with Anthony Medico Music and is now almost ready for the Level 2 Royal Conservatory of Music exam. Even though we moved to a nearby town a year and a half ago, I still bring my daughter to Anthony because it is worth it to my daughter and me. Anthony is a professional piano teacher. He is very patient and motivating with children and is open to explore music/songs that the student loves. I strongly recommend piano lessons with Anthony Medico and enjoy all of the benefits of learning music!
Marie Geard:
My son has been taking piano lessons with Anthony for 5 years, since he was 3 and a half years old. I highly recommend Anthony as a piano teacher to everyone. Anthony is a highly accomplished musician; a kind, patient and accommodating teacher with lots of enthusiasm and focus on the student’s progression. The music studio is professional and my son loves playing on the grand piano during his lessons.
Luisa Fazio Candeloro:
Anthony’s teaching style motivates his students to want to practice. When learning piano practice is the only way you get better. He has been my daughter’s piano teacher for over 3 years and she has always been so motivated because Anthony finds something that she is interested in learning. Above all, if you ask my daughter what she loves most she would say his positivity and feedback which translates his passion and love for music.
